Hadhrat Maryam رضي الله عنها
Hadhrat Maryam رضي الله عنها was the daughter of Hadhrat Imraan and belonged to a noble family of the Bani Israa'eel. Her name is mentioned 12 times in the Qur'aan and there is an entire Surah in the Qur'aan named after her. Her father was the Imaam of Baytul Muqaddas and she was regarded as the most virtuous woman of her time. In conformance with an oath that her mother took,
Hadhrat Maryam رضي الله عنها was handed over to Hadhrat Zakariyyah (Alayhi salaam) for upbringing and she was devoted to a life of Ibaadah in Baytul Muqaddas. There was a special room made for her where she engaged in Ibaadah all the time. Here Allaah provided for her sustenance and she even received fruits that were not in season.
When she grew up, Allaah sent her a message via Hadhrat Jibra'eel (Alayhi salaam) that she would soon be giving birth to a son called Isa who would hold a high status in this world and who will testify to her chastity even as an infant.
